The Great Hall of Announcements

Jan15

Aside from posting up a page every week, I’ve been fairly quiet around here… those that follow me on Twitter, might have noticed that my tweets declined heavily during the end of December and first part of January.  Blog postings here were less frequent (and my poor little personal blog was downright lonely).  Well, there was a good reason for all of that…

Announcement #1: Brat-halla Volume 1 Trade Collection

Yes, there is a trade on the way.  One of the big issues is that during the early stages of our little webcomic here, I planned for everything to just be online.  To put together a trade, I’ve been having to gather up all the high resolution colored artwork pages, get some of the black-and-white pages colored (thanks to Anthony putting in the extra effort there), and then (because of page size differences and legibility concerns) reletter every single page in the 120 page volume.

The plan is to have it done and off to the printers by the end of this month (maybe a week later), and then take a week off before doing the same thing for Volume 2.  Definitely the first volume and possibly (if things go well) the second will be available for our appearance at the…

Announcement #2: Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo (C2E2)

Team Brat-halla will be in the Webcomics Pavilion at C2E2 in April.  Be sure to stop by and chat with us–we always enjoy taking time to talk with readers/fans when we’re at shows.  Speaking of fans, just for you we have a…

Announcement #3: Brat-halla Facebook Fan Page

For those of you on Facebook, feel free to become a fan of our Brat-halla Facebook page.  There’s not much there now, but I’ll be adding more stuff to it slowly over the coming weeks.  Some extras here-and-there.  So stop on in and feel free to introduce yourself in the Discussions section.  Besides, it will be a nice place to hang out during the…

Announcement #4: Potential Website Hiccups This Weekend

I need to get some software upgrades in this weekend, and I might do some tweaking/rearranging around the site during that time.  If you stop by and things look weird or freaky or error-y, just have a little patience.  But if you see problems with the site on Monday, please be sure to let me know, so I can get them corrected.  And speaking of Mondays…

Announcement #5: Something Monday This Way Comes

You should check back on Monday.  Just sayin’.

Today’s Comic…

… will be posted a little later today.  Someone (and I’m not mentioning any names here) thought he posted the script last week and didn’t notice he hadn’t until late Monday night. He (remember, no names here) apologizes for the delay and will be a bit more paranoid about such things in the future.

To pass the time, let’s have a giveaway for a free Brat-halla t-shirt.  Just answer the following question in the comments to this post to be eligible for the giveaway (be sure to use a valid email address in your comment because that’s how I’ll contact the winner about where to send the shirt).

What is your favorite piece of artwork in Brat-halla (whether it be a single panel, single page or a series of pages) and what makes it stand out?

Deadline is next Tuesday (September 2nd) at noon (US Central time).

Since art is always subjective and opinions vary widely, there will be no judging of the answers to determine a winner… if you provide an answer in the comment section of this post, I’ll place your name in a hat and randomly select a winner next week to be announced with next Wednesday’s comic.

Chicago Comic-Con and Other Fun Stuff

Just a reminder… Seth and I will be at Chicago Comic Con (formerly Wizard World Chicago) next week at table 3712 in Artist Alley.  You can see the full AA list here.  Interesting that Artist Alley is referred to as AA… it’s like they know us.  We’ll have some copies of our Image comic books there, (hopefully) some t-shirts to sell, and as always, Seth will be doing art commissions there at the show.  We always enjoy chatting with fans of Brat-halla, so even if you’re not thinking about buying anything, feel welcome to come by and say hello.

####

Zuda Comics – the current competition is almost closed and my friend Jorge’s comic is in second place.  I said I’d toss a link over there… not sure if his violent historical piece will appeal to the readers here, but I know the way he writes and if you enjoy stories with twists, he likes to shake things up in his stories.  But check them out… the one that wins gets to continue as a weekly webcomic there (so the votes are meaningful).

####

I’ve been quiet on the blog and in comments lately.  I’ve been busy with some projects and this current storyline in Brat-halla has been taking a lot of research.  Now that the story’s rolling along, I’ll be responding a bit quicker to the comments.

####

And as a quick note, I’m building out the Brat-halla store… if you have any suggestions for t-shirt designs you’d like to see (favorite single panels or episodes or favorite characters), let me know here and I’ll see what I can do.

Yep, all three of us were interviewed by Eliza over at Xcentrikz. It was a fun interview and if you’ve ever been curious to find out more about the creators behind Brat-halla, now’s your chance to crawl inside our minds (that’s not meant to be taken literally).

Norse Trivia: Corpse of Hel Edition

Jun02
by Jeffery Stevenson on June 2, 2009 at 8:59 am
Posted In: News

Since we’ve seen Hel fall in the latest episode of Brat-halla, I thought I’d pose an interesting question to our Norse-savvy readers:

How does Hel really die?

The winning answer will get bragging rights–I’ll probably even design a virtual certificate of merit. But note, this will go to the "winning" answer, which is subject to my insane judging skills.  It could be the correct answer or the funniest or the most entertaining or the most well-researched or even the craziest (think: Marvel "no-prize" worthy). It could go to the shortest answer or the longest answer.  Whatever answer I like the best will take the prize, so feel free to submit as many answers as you like to get my attention.

For obvious reasons of bias, Seth, Anthony and my wife Rayna can submit answers but aren’t eligible to receive bragging rights (it could upset the team dynamic), but they’ll be eligible for various honorable mention categories that I’ll announce with the winner.
